Bulletin: India's 2026 AMR policy and what it means for feed

India's Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying issued its 2026 AMR bulletin in early March. The headline change: organised commercial poultry units above a stated bird-population threshold must now log in-feed antimicrobial use against a standardised reporting template, with quarterly upload to the central registry.

The bulletin is a reporting requirement, not yet a ban. But the shape of the dataset it builds — operator-level, geography-tagged, time-series — is the precondition for a phased ban. Producers who get ahead of this with phytogenic alternatives now will save themselves a panicked compliance scramble in 2028.
